Rotoscoping Animation Workshop
Toronto Animated Image Society (TAIS)
Taught traditional animation workshop at TAIS, where I created a 4-hour workshop on the technique of rotoscoping. The class provided a historical introduction to rotoscope animation, strategies for visual music, and an overview on using it both as a hand-drawn and digital technique. The students learned how to animate realistic action using live-action footage as a base, methods for achieving smooth movement and transitions, as well as pre and post production in Adobe After Effects. The outcome of this hands-on studio class as a 20 second animated ballet dance to Tchaikovsky's "Francesca da Rimini", to which each student contributed two seconds.
