Rotoscoping Animation Workshop
In-person workshop
Client: Toronto Animated Image Society (TAIS)
I created and taught a 4-hour traditional animation workshop on the technique of rotoscoping. The class provided a historical introduction to rotoscope animation, strategies for visual music, and an overview on using it both as a hand-drawn and digital technique. The students learned how to animate realistic action using live-action footage as a base, methods for achieving smooth movement and transitions, as well as pre and post production in Adobe After Effects. The outcome of this hands-on studio class as a 22-sec animation of Jennifer Lopez "Ain't it Funny" choreography, to which each student contributed two seconds.
